One of the most beautiful and modern arenas in the Euro 2012 tournament is the National Stadium in Warsaw, Poland. Constructed on the site of an older, unused stadium on the banks of the River Vistula, it opened in January 2012 and recently won the World Stadium Award in the categories of multifunction stadium design and innovative use of technology. This stadium hosted the first match of the tournament and the quarter-finals between the Czech Republic and Portugal. It is also the chosen venue for the semi-finals on June 28.

Two, three-phase 40 megavolt ampere (MVA) ABB transformers in the stadium's substation are delivering reliable power, essential to keep the complex systems of this dazzling arena running and ensure that the lights stay on.
ABB’s 40 MVA three-phase transformers are another vital link in the National Stadium's power delivery system, and are especially important at times of high energy demand, such as when a soccer match is in progress.
ABB transformers are also installed in the new terminal (T2) of the Lech Walesa Airport in Gdansk. The airport recently more than doubled its passenger capacity by increasing airside infrastructure and adding the second passenger terminal, which opened in April.
Six quiet, low-loss dry transformers underground provide power for the new terminal, which was specially built to accommodate visitors to the UEFA Euro 2012, and can serve 5 million passengers annually.
